Privacy Policy
North holds personal and financial information you choose to give it. This page explains exactly what is stored, why, who processes it, and how you can get it back or remove it.

Information North collects
- Account information — your email address and authentication identifiers. If you sign in with Google, North receives the basic profile information Google returns for sign-in (email, name, account identifier). North never receives your Google password.
- Financial information you provide — your monthly take-home income, the goals you create, their target amounts, amounts saved, monthly contributions and target dates. All of it is typed in by you. North does not connect to banks, cards or brokers and does not import transactions.
- Profile and preferences — name, occupation, country, city, timezone, selected currency and primary financial goal.
- Ask North conversations — the questions you send and the answers generated, stored so your history is there when you return.
- Activity information — lessons you complete, daily challenges answered, streak and progress counters, and the dates of that activity.
- Device and browser information — standard technical data your browser sends with each request (IP address, user agent) which hosting and infrastructure providers process to serve and secure the app. North also reads your browser timezone so dates are calculated in your local time. Some preferences (such as whether you finished today's action) are stored locally in your own browser.
How your information is used
- To create and operate your account and keep you signed in.
- To show your own numbers back to you — goals, progress and projections calculated from figures you entered.
- To give Ask North the context it needs: your known profile facts, goals, currency, and the current date and time in your timezone.
- To track your learning progress, streak and milestones.
- To respond when you contact support.
- To keep the service secure and diagnose faults.
How your information is not used
- North does not sell your personal or financial information.
- North does not use it for advertising or ad targeting, and does not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- North does not infer your income, wealth or spending from your name, job title or location — if it does not know a figure, it says so and asks.
- North does not send you marketing email you did not ask for.
Service providers that process data
North is built on third-party infrastructure. These providers process data on North's behalf in order for the product to work — so North cannot claim your data never leaves it:
- A managed cloud database and authentication provider, which stores your account, profile, goals, lesson progress and conversation history.
- A hosting and content-delivery provider, which serves the application and processes standard request data such as IP addresses.
- An AI model gateway and the underlying model provider, which receive the contents of your Ask North messages plus the context described below in order to generate a reply.
These providers are used to deliver the service, not to build profiles of you for their own marketing.
AI processing
When you send a message to Ask North, the request includes your message, the recent conversation, the current date, time and timezone, your selected currency, and the profile and goal facts you have entered. It is sent to an AI model through a gateway to generate a response. North does not send information it does not have, and it does not fabricate financial values to fill gaps.
Answers are generated text. They can be incomplete or wrong. See the AI & Financial Disclaimer.
Data retention
Your account, profile, goals, lesson progress and conversation history are kept while your account exists. You can delete your conversations at any time from Profile → Privacy & Data. When you delete your account, the records North holds for you are deleted. Backups and provider-side logs may persist for a limited period before rotating out.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Your data is protected by row-level database rules so a signed-in account can only read and write its own rows, and authentication is handled by a managed provider — North never stores your password itself. No system is perfectly secure, and North makes no claim of certification or independent audit.
Your rights and controls
- Access — download everything North holds for you as a JSON file from Profile → Privacy & Data.
- Correction — edit your name, location, timezone, currency, income and goal details at any time in Profile, or delete a goal in Goals.
- Deletion — delete your Ask North conversations, or delete your account and its data entirely, from Profile → Privacy & Data.
- Withdrawing consent — you can stop providing financial information at any time and remove what you already added; North will simply say it does not know those figures.
- You can also email support with an access, correction or deletion request.
Account deletion
Deleting your account removes your profile, goals, lesson progress and Ask North conversations, and removes your login. It is immediate and cannot be undone. North asks you to confirm and tells you exactly what will be removed before it happens.
Children
North is not intended for use by anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page is updated. Continuing to use North after a change means the updated policy applies.
